Chief Impact Officer, or CIO, is the latest job title to join the list of acronym-based roles.

In reality, it’s not a new job; the acronym gained popularity thanks to Prince Harry, who was hired as CIO by the company BetterUp in March 2021.

What is the role of a CIO?

They guide the company through its social, societal, and environmental transformation, ensuring these priorities are integrated into the company's strategy. They measure the progress of initiatives and communicate their impact to stakeholders.

What are their responsibilities?

  • 👉🏻 Define the strategy needed to reach impact reduction goals
  • 👉🏻 Track impact metrics to guide decision-making
